Workshop on Administration of Sanitizer Registration holds in Beijing

ICAMA and SC Johnson (Shanghai) co-hosted the Workshop on Administration of Sanitizer Registration in Beijing on March 27th, 2013. Over 20 sanitizer experts participated the Workshop. ICAMA DDG Ye Jimin attended and addressed the meeting.

Ye pointed out that as a category of pesticides, sanitizers should be registered to the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) in accordance with the Regulations on Pesticide Management. Unfortunately, given a late start, sanitizer registration in China still lags behind that in developed countries in terms of requirement setting, risk assessment and market supervision. In this view, at the end of 2012, a specific division of ICAMA was designated to draft the Requirements for Sanitizer Registration and carry out the following implementation.

Meanwhile, Ye hoped that Chinese experts would learn more about requirements, risk assessment methods and trial criteria for sanitizer registration in USA and EU countries at this Workshop. Such information would definitely help the drafting of Requirements and improve the capacity of sanitizer management in China.

At the Workshop, Director Smith of Global Product Registration at SC Johnson introduced the requirements, testing technologies, risk assessment principles for pesticide registration of EU and USA, while Division Director Tao Chuanjiang of Toxicology Review of ICAMA briefed on China's status and prospect of sanitizer risk assessment.

Participants also had extensive discussions on registration data, risk assessment methods, consumer survey, minor changes on formulation, different odor types, etc.
